After 6 months in council being appointed as the finance & environment commissioner, the main tasks of a senator are to meet up with other project commissions and meet the people in charge. Mr. Than O-suwan has now been in office for 6 months. The remuneration for such a position is 107,000 Baht per month.
He has 4 assistants and 1 specialist, each earning approx, Baht 10,000 per month. Mr. Bancha Laohawarutchai was appointed to manage environmental issues and Ms. Kulthida Rianmek to deal with issues concerning Hua Hin.
There are 150 senators and 76 persons came up for election. 74 were elected.
The senators are required to operate on the legislative level and deal with the existing and upcoming issues. So when each senator cast his vote must be totally dedicated and allowed to vote without any intervention or influence from outside.
He is not only the province senator but he is responsible for the finance and environment commissions. Mr. Than visited Portugal to study their banking system.
“Portugal is Europe’s poorest country but their banking system is quite unique and could be applied to our country.” Said Mr. Than
“Presently, our government borrows money from other countries and gives loans to Thai people from this borrowed money without touching the money that has been deposited in Thai banks by Thai people. By doing so, foreign lenders can influence our banking system.”
“The other task is to look after our environmental problems such as waste water, de-forestation, garbage and other prioritized environmental issues to preserve our country and ultimately our world.” He added.
Next month the commission will travel to Bangsaphan district to study a project to erect a power house to generate electricity. However, the environmental situation must be taken into consideration in order to protect our beautiful beaches, the sea and nature.
The tasks of a senator are multiple and each one carries a lot of responsibility to serve his country, the people, the environment and His Majesty The King in a responsible and sustainable way.
