An Interview with the Secretary of The Rajaprajanugroh Foundation under Royal Patronage
Mr. Prasong Pitoonkitja, said that after his governmental duties were finished, he took up taken the Secretary position of the Foundation of which Mr. Khuankaew Watcharothai is the President and Mr. Ditsathorn Watcharothai is the Managing Director. The The Rajaprajanugroh Foundation under Royal Patronage was founded by His Majesty the King when the areas in the South were hit by floods and storms named Gay and Linda at Laem Talumpuk. The Foundation has distributed necessary appliances to the people in order to relieve the disaster caused by the natural disasters.
Last month, when heavy rain storm hit the upper and southern part of the North-East and another 20 provinces in the central region, citizens of those regions were affected to a great extent when their homes and farms were flooded and destroyed. When His Majesty the King heard about the incident, the Foundation was assigned to go and distribute food and appliances to the victims. There were things such as canned foods, cooking oil, fish sauce, chili paste, loin cloth, sarong, etc put in a bag with the “Royal Presents” written on it. Along with the appliances bag, there was also a picture of His Majesty the King. The citizens who received the gifts were pleased and overwhelmed by this gesture of help.
As soon as His Majesty the King is informed about a disaster region, he would order immediately help to be activated by the Foundation and follow up the matter informing the King of progress and success. The Foundation has helped disaster areas twice; each time, a group of 40 people worked 14 days in disaster areas.
Each time the Foundation goes and distributes help to the citizens, the staff faces many difficulties. They have to wade through floods and are exposed to rain and storm, hot or cold weather and the destroyed roads and infrastructure. But none of them are ever discouraged because the inspiration and encouragement coming from His Majesty the King motivates their actions said Mr. Prasong.
Mr. Prasong also told us about his career that started as a District Officer, District Deputy, Provincial Deputy, Vice Governor and Governor.
He served a total of 37 years of hard work. Although it has been very tiring for him, he has done his best in all his tasks and duties. Right now he’s continuing with the current position of the Secretary of The Rajaprachanukro Foundation under Royal Patronage and would love to stay so as long as he would be entrusted with it as a renewal of the position is done on a yearly basis.
