Entrepreneurs warned to label prices on products and services
Supansa Klaiwaad
To protect those tourists from being exploited by entrepreneurs, the trading standard was then issued to enable them to indicate exact prices for the benefit of tourists. This measure was created by requiring people participation, setting up the hotline 1569 for urgent complaints and informing of the behavior of those who failed to label prices or exploiting consumers by charging for goods or services unreasonably!
If unfair behavior is found, legal measures will be used to strictly prosecute those traders to protect visitors to Prachuap Khirikhan Province. Internal Trade Prachuap Khirikhan Office and Prachuap Khirikhan Provincial Commercial Office were assigned to mainly take responsibility on these issues by checking prices of goods and services every Tuesday, twice a month, from now until December 2008, totaling 20 times. Those general traders, restaurants, souvenir shops and other shopping centers, tourist attractions and gas stations are the main checking targets to prevent unfair trading and to enable those traders to indicate prices on their products in line with the Act of Goods and Services Price 1999 as well.
Mr. Bongkarn added at the end of his talk that at the moment Prachuap khirikhan was regarded to be one of the most tourist-crowded provinces, so that those persons concerned must impress those visitors by labeling exact prices. Anyone who goes against this will be convicted in accordance with the Act of Goods and Services Price 1999, with maximum of Bht.10,000.
Whoever sees or experiences this unfair trading by those entrepreneurs, please inform your problems to the Goods Price Complaint Center, Internal Trade Prachuap Khirikhan Office, tel. 032 603 732, fax. 032 602 263 or Hotline 1569
