Executive members of the Municipality uncover a public land taken over by a Hotel
Mr. Prapa Noratod, Hua Hin municipality council member, said that in the 2nd meeting of the Hua Hin municipality council members, he has brought up the issue of the area close to the beach at Boh Fai which is public land taken over by the owner of a hotel. The area is an empty triangle of land where in the pas,t Mr. Prapa himself used to run and play in when he was a young kid and the fishermen used to access the sea from this area.
Later a hotel was built near by and has included that area to the property under the title deed number 227, 1 Ngarn (39 sqm.), the owner being Ocean Property Co., Ltd, and under a mortgage of Thai Samut Lift Insurance Co., Ltd.
After the hotel has took over the land, they have come and pay taxes in arrears to the municipality. By allowing this, isn’t it helping the owner of the hotel to do wrong?
I would like the lawyers and Technical Service Unit to investigate this matter because the beach belongs to the public. I don’t know what has blinded us until now”, said Mr. Prapa.
Mr. Prapa insists that the taken triangle area was public land and was taken over in the year 2004. There were people warning him not to get involved with the investigation or claiming back the land for the public but as a representative of people of Hua Hin, he cannot just sit by. It has been 4 years of struggling and pain, talking in dealing with this issue and therefore he pleads the executive members of municipality to pass the order to the concerning officers and claim back the public land for the Boh Fai people
