Hua Hin King’s Cup & Queen’s Cup Bicycle Competition
Hua Hin Municipality in cooperation with Hua Hin Bike Club and other organizations are holding the King's Cup Hua Hin Mountain Bike Classic and Queen's Cup Tour of Hua Hin on the 29th and 30th of November 2008.
The Hua Hin Mayor said that Hua Hin Municipality, Hua Hin Bike Club and Mr. Santi Phirompakdee - CEO of Boonrawd Brewery Co., Ltd. will hold the King's Cup Hua Hin Mountain Bike Classic and Queen's Cup Tour of Hua Hin during 29-30 November 2008 at Hua Hin Clock Tower starting at 9 am.
The objectives of the programs are to celebrate the auspicious occasion of His Majesty the King’s 81st Birthday on December 5th 2008 and also to promote Hua Hin and all districts of Prachuab Kirikhan Province. Moreover, this will also encourage youngsters’ awareness in regards to this kind of sport since it has been added in the national and international sport games.
His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen have given the prizes through Mr. Thanom Plaisri, the officer from the Bureau of The Royal House Hold of The Kingdom of Thailand. There will be a total number of 12 prizes for the winners. There will be more than 1,000 bicyclists participating in the programs for Thai and foreigners’ competitors.
Mr. Somchai Krajaejerm, the President of the Hua Hin Bike Club said that this year’s programs will make Hua Hin very lively and crowded since many cyclists, including professional cyclists already agreed to participate in the programs. The event will also influence the Hua Hin economy, especially the hospitality industry.
The competitions are divided into different groups;
• Men Open Competition – all ages – Racing Bicycle 130 KM.
• Men 30 – 39 Yrs. – 117 Km.
• Men 40 – 49 Yrs. - 94 Km.
• Men 50 Yrs + and Women all ages 94 KM
• Mountain Bikes Open – all ages 94 Km.
• VIP group – 40 Km.
The registration fee is 400 baht for all groups and V.I.P 2,000 baht. The participants will get a T- Shirt and Gold Medal of Distinction.
Mr. Somchai also added that this year event will be celebrated glamorously.
