Huay Mongkol Temple to support lunch project for Hua Hin police
Phra Khru Paphatsornworaphinit (or Luang Pho Phairote), an abbot of Huay Mongkol Temple, Tab Tai Sub-district, Hua Hin District, Prachuap Khirikhan Province revealed presently there are 245 police officers altogether in Hua Hin performing duties for both locals and tourists. The police officers must be on patrol 24 hours a day and so experience problems as regards to lunch during the daytime, so the abbot has proposed a project "lunch for police officers in Hua Hin" as a New Year's gift of 2008.
On December 17th 07, the first day of the project, the abbot gave a budget for buying dishes, cutlery, glasses, electric boilers, cups and so on totaling 19,425 baht. He also gave 3 sacs of rice, 20,000 baht in cash for food preparation and 5,315 baht for drinks such as coffee, sugar, creamer, tea etc. Each month, the temple will give 25,315 baht altogether to the police officers via the directing police section to provide lunch for every police section who is on duty in the office.
The abbot also added the reason why he supports this lunch project for the police in Hua Hin is to help the police officers who have a low salary in lightening their expenses in the present situation where the cost of living is very high. The project means they do not have to go out for lunch anymore while on duty and this is also extended for those visiting the station.
Maj. Prayad Phuchanasri, a Directing Inspector, said the project concerned with providing lunch for police officers in Hua Hin was said to be thanks to the kindness of the abbot who has helped the police officers tremendously. From now on, all-level police officers no matter whether they are in charge of suppressing, investigating, traffic or administrating will be able to have lunch without any expenses.
