Municipality hosts dorm meeting
The dorm owners were told that the government is concerned about students who stay in the dorms. The safety of students in the dorm should come first. The government asked the owners of the dorms to separate male and female dorm dwellers in separate buildings. They should not live in the same building. Therefore, the dorm owners should provide at least two buildings in their business—one for male, the other for female. With such practice, the dorm will be distinguished as a dorm, not a guesthouse. Moreover, the dorm owners are obliged to hire a personnel to take care of the dorms administration.
The dorm owners agreed to abide by the request of the government. At present, there are enough dorm rooms to accommodate students who are required to stay in Hua Hin because their home towns are far from their education institutes.
Mr Sanit, speaking with Hua Hin Today, said that he's concerned about the news regarding dorm staying, especially the news about dorm living in Bangkok. Often we hear that male and female students stay in the same building and it's easy for them to mix and create social problems such as fights, immature pregnancy, abortion, and dropping out of school. Ministry of Education and Ministry of Interior have highlighted these issues therefore they urge dorm owners throughout the country to take this matter seriously.
Mr Sanit, however, added that, "we shouldn't have to worry about this matter because we have dorm owners who are willing to follow the instructions from the government."
