Plastic-to-oil process project to be proceeded
Plastic waste can be converted into oil by decomposing plastic waste through a reaction using water as a reaction medium. With this method, the reaction is conducted by using continuous reactor Plastic, a product of petroleum, gives a fuel better than petrol and diesel as the impurities are less when compared to e crude oil. Through the new technology plastic can be converted into oil (70%), gas (20%) and coke (10%),” said the official.
Mr. Jira Pongphaiboon, the Hua Hin Mayor, reveals that the research of plastic-to-oil process project and the Hua Hin Municipality Council meeting with Mr. Bongkarn Limpaphan, the deputy governor and asst. Prof. Dr. Cattaleeya Pattamaprom, engineer professor at Thamasat University, Sub district Administrative Organization (SAO), Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO) and Single Point Energy and Environment Co., Ltd, took place on the 8th of July 2008 at the Hua Hin Municipality. The project was accepted and is ready to proceed to the next step.
Over 16 local organizations will participate in this project. The budget is estimated around 53 million Baht which is 15 million Baht from each local organization. The first payment of 15% will be paid to the contractor soonest.
The provincial organizations and Hua Hin municipality intend to improve and protect the environment. This plastic-to-oil project will help to recycle plastic waste efficient and effectively.
There are 3 responsible groups; 1st “North Group” including the Administrative Organizations of the Hua Hin and Pranburi Municipalities. The 2nd “Central Group” includes the Prachuab Kirikhan Municipality, Muang District, Sam Roi Yod and Kui Buri Administrative Organizations. The 3rd South Group includes Bang-Sapan Sub district Municipality, Tab-Sake, Bang-Sapan and Bang-Sapan-Noi Administrative Organizations.
The Ministry of Energy has also supported this project in researching environmental values, academic and provision drafts and details about waste disposal machines and methods as well as to approve the standard of this project.
This project will affect our immediate nearby communities and protect the environment on a short, medium and long term.
