Progress in solving the Flooding threat

The secretary of the Royal Development Project Board,Mr. Chalermkiet Saenviset presided a meeting in solving the flooding problems during rainy season.

The project’s report was presented by Mr. Panchai Bavornratanaparn, Prachuab’s Kirikhan Governor, Mr. Bongkarn Limpraphan, the Vice Governor, Mr. Prasit Boonlikit, Hua Hin’s District Chief Officer and Mr. Suvit Reinrungrueng, the Deputy Mayor. Furthermore there were officers from the Royal Irrigation Department, the Department of public works and town and country planning, State Railway of Thailand and other relevant departments.

Mr. Chalermkiet reveals that HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn is deeply concerned about the flooding problem in Hua Hin and always questions the progress of solving this problem which is under patronage His Majesty The King.

Especially, as our Majesties have moved back to the Klai Kang Wong Palace, it must be ensured that all plans solving this threat are prepared and planned for further proceeding. However, The Thai Meteorological Department announces that rain quantity this year will be higher than last year and may cause serious flooding between May to September.

Mr. Panchai and all relevant personnel officers inspected the Kaem Ling drainage canal, one of the King’s projects and found four problems:

1. Massive weed growth that obstructs the drainage and free flow of water

2.  Loose soil sliding into the canal

3. An illegal housing construction which the provincial governor has urged the State
Railway of Thailand to handle in stop the trespassing.

4. Garbage and waste thrown into the canal

However, the Hua Hin Municipality will be responsible to raise funds for an additional updated drainage canal construction which will cost approximately 70 million baht.
