Residents in Night Market urge vendors to move away stalls
Owners of commercial buildings located in the Night Market complained to the Administrative Court requiring the re-arrangement of entrepreneurs stalls. According to owners the vendors stall shape obstructs the entrances to their homes at night. They have suggested placing the stalls back-to-back in the middle of the road as this would leave both sides of pavements free for walkways. They also commented that this issue needs to have a public hearing to discover the ins and outs of a changing stall pattern.
However, changing the stall shape will mean that the space of each stand will be reduced which will mostly affect the restaurant vendors space for tables, chairs and a cooking area. If ordered back-to-back, the smell of food will be a big problem for clothes vendors.
Thus there have been three ideas presented:
1.Keep the current stall shape but leave enough space for buyer-walkway at the middle of the road.
2.To leave both sides of the pavement located outside the commercial buildings free with no goods sold on these areas.
3.To free the back area of each stall so commercial building owners can walk through conveniently.
A stall setting up time will be imposed; "The stalls should start to set up at 4 pm and disobeying vendors will be charged by Law Enforcement Officers. This will soon be announced to the public for a one month trial. If relevant parties agree with this new practice, the issue will be summarized at the next meeting." said Mr. Nopporn
