“The City of Tourism 2008” pushed forward by Phetchaburi Governor
Mr. Sayumporn Limthai, the Phetchaburi Provincial Governor, revealed to “Hua Hin Today” that the tourism promotion at the beginning of 2008 was extending its result which has made a lot of tourists know more about the province and continuously visit its tourist attractions, especially Cha-Am beaches. At this moment, The Governor with his team has kept working on other destinations in the province, such as Kaengkrachan Dam, Baanpeun Palace, Khaowang (a palace on the mount), Marukkathayawan Palace (Love & Hope Palace) as well as arts & culture observation. All of these mentioned are original and only found in “Phetchaburi”
In April, the festive Pranakhon Khiri and Songkran Festival were colorfully promoted at the same time. Not only with the two festivals taking place this month, there was also cow racing and other interesting activities which were the local traditions of the area. Now all tourism plans have been already submitted to the Tourism Authority of Thailand to publicize tourism information in the hope of inviting those visitors.
Back to “Kaengkrachan” with its dam and fresh water sea, Panoen Thung Mountain with the beautiful nature located there, the Governor emphasized the quality tourism for Thai and oversea tourists by providing them with an opportunity to set up a tent to admire the nature under the condition that the number of cars and tourists must be limited. Moreover, the Department of Highways was assigned to improve main entrances, exits and lighting systems at the same time as the District Office was reportedly assigned to hold a “Fish Eating Festival” and a “Wild Bird Watching Festival”, meanwhile numbers and species of wild birds were also counted and recorded into the system.
“The most important thing is that at the moment the District and Province are trying to push forward Kaengkrachan Dam and Panoen Thung Mountain to be World Heritage areas with fertile forests and wildlife in the hope of inviting those visitors from around the world. “If it comes true, it will be a good sign for tourism in the province as well as Cha-Am Beaches” said the Governor.
