HUA HIN POLICE DEPARTMENT SEEKS HELP
The Hua Hin police department pleads to relevant organizations; TAT, Hua Hin-Cha-Am Tourism Association and Hua Hin Municipality to help fund raising for foreigner remains transportation expenses.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Somsak Neng-On, Deputy Superintendent of the Investigation Department, Hua Hin Police Station, reported that Hua Hin police station faces a problem in transportation expenses for foreign bodies which need to be sent for an autopsy to the Police Hospital in Bangkok. For each diseased, costs occur of Baht 5,000. The majority of foreign remains are Scandinavian, German and other western European men aged between 60 to 70 years old. The cause of death being accidents, heart attacks and other Health issues etc. Since January 2008, over 50 bodies were sent to the Police hospital in Bangkok through requests of embassies and relatives.
He added that the Hua Hin Aid Foundation refused to help due to increasing in expenses such as high oil prices, manpower wage increases etc. The Bangkok Por-Tek-Tung Aid Foundation proposed to help but this will infringe the duty of the local foundation. Momentarily, police officers, who earn a little income, have to pay the cost of transportation from their own pocket.
“The next high season will see more problem if this one is not solved as more foreigners are to come to Hua Hin” Said Pol. Lt. Gen. Somsak.
A solution may be to ask the foreign Embassies or those relevant organizations to take over the cost of transportation from Hua Hin to Bangkok and the autopsy at the Bangkok Police Hospit
