Pol.Col. Kritsana Chaemsawang, Hua Hin Superintendent, revealed that since being assigned to Hua Hin Superintendent, he has encountered the problem of teenagers continually going to entertainment places and driving vehicles, making a loud noise and bothering others on roads during the night time. But they also make a noise by firing guns into the air. So car & motorbike suppression officers have had to set up check points, especially on a Friday – Saturday – Sunday or long holidays. If teenagers misbehave or act contrary to the law, they will be prosecuted by police officers immediately.
According to the law, it states that children, under the age of 18 years old are not allowed to leave their homes after 22.00. If they enter pubs, bars or any entertainment places, they will be recorded in a daily report by the police and their parents will be invited to a police station to be informed of what their children have done, especially in cases where they are accused of brawling or attacking others. If they are prosecuted, parents must be penalized as well.
Another problem is that overseas tourists who stay in hotels or their own houses are continually robbed, such as houses located in Khao Tao, Khao Ta Kiap, Nongkae, Hua Na, Smor Prong and Tan Diow Villages. So patrol police officers have changed their plan of action by patrolling the area 15 minutes after recording suspects to search for any suspects that may be hiding and asking house owners if there are any problems which need to be eradicated or monitored by the police.
Moreover, narcotics are also controlled and suppressed continuously, especially among Thai teenagers. It has not been found that foreigners take or distribute narcotics, but it is reported that Ecstasy and Methamphetamine known as ICE has already dispersed into Hua Hin, and Thai or foreign distributors must be investigated.
In order to solve the problem of robberies in housing projects owned by foreigners, Pol.Col Kritsana assigned Pol.Lt.Col Withat Borirak, the Deputy Superintendent (suppression), to summon housing project owners to monitor and to install CCTV at entrances to those projects and to record in-out visitors, due to the fact that robberies may be performed by those identifying themselves as technicians.
Moreover, he also asked security guards to strictly perform their duties in their areas of responsibility in case a suspicious situation occurs and if so they can dial 191 immediately. Housing projects with a large number of people can be protected by asking for police officers to patrol or installing red boxes in the risky areas, so police officers can check and monitor the situation every hour.
The news agent reported that Songkran is taking place soon and many teenagers are likely to try to raise money to spend during the festival by undertaking in night robbery, stealing motorbikes or other crimes. Therefore, foreigners should be aware and alert on the beach or other places that are quiet and have few people passing by.
