Prachuap police commander focuses on crime inspection in Hua Hin
Maj.Gen. Wirat Watcharakhajon, Prachuap Khirikhan Police Commander, revealed he had visited and checked the results of the work of Hua Hin Police and it appeared that the police had just arrested Ms. Narissara Sainui, 40, an amphetamine retailer in Hua Hin. She was accused of having 1,186 amphetamine pills bought from the Chiang Rai Province for the purpose of distribution to labors, students etc. priced at 200 baht for each pill. Moreover, a number of unlicensed guns were seized by the police as well.
It was reported that Hua Hin and Prachuap Khirikhan were not a source of narcotics production rather just means for small retailers to distribute to entertainment places. There was police surveillance taking place 24 hours a day to ensure that any places being found to contain narcotics or anyone in the act of taking narcotics could immediately be prosecuted by Region 7 Police Investigation and Narcotics Control Officers.
Provincial Police Region has produced posters with 24 photos of wanted criminals. It appeared that there was only 1 gunman found in the area of Prachuap Khirikhan Province and he had escaped to the south of Thailand. However, these escaped criminals with urgent arrest warrants must be prosecuted immediately for security.
"According to the observation on the work of Hua Hin police, they are not practically targeted on the main policy. This is due to a lack of principals and the command from the Police Commissioner. Therefore, from January to April, 2008 the Commissioner will readjust all working plans to be up-to-date in accordance with reality and Narcotics Control Officers must be trained in essential techniques of searching for and verifying narcotics, because the narcotic retailers continue to be innovative in their means of distribution which means that police officers need to work much harder and therefore must be well-educated in this matter on a par with overseas police" said Maj.Gen. Wirat.
One informed source reported that one of the most concerning problems of Hua Hin was that European and Scandinavian foreigners were continually visiting and obtaining Thai wives while doing business in restaurants, especially in the vicinity of Hua Hin Temple. These people always create serious problems being sources of narcotics distribution especially "ICE and Ecstasy" and sources of temporary prostitution including in the form of a legal couple.
Some of them continually come into serious conflict with each other and finally notify police officers. Presently, there are a number of entrepreneurs who run illegal businesses in Hua Hin, causing problems for the local government, so police officers, provincial & district administrators and Hua Hin Municipality have registered and listed business profiles for entrepreneurs to prove where they are from, what they do etc. if it is successful the authorities will possibly be able to control Hua Hin and its vicinity pushing it in the right direction.
