'War Room' for tackling criminals throughout 2008
Pol.Col. Woraphat Wathanawisan, the Prachuap Khirikhan Deputy Commissioner, on behalf of all heads of gangster suppression departments throughout the province revealed "The new policy of 2008 means that the police must be more intensive when in charge of safeguarding Thais and foreigners. This is due to the Governors announcement concerning an increased number of visitors spreading over the province in the form of both temporary and permanent stays.
He has just been assigned by Pol.Maj.Gen. Wirat Watcharakhachon, the Prachuap Khirikhan Provincial Commissioner, to set up a "War Room" to suppress robbery and crimes including foreign gangsters. To follow the security policy, each police station, Hua Hin, Pranburi, Kuiburi, Thab Sakae, Bangsaphan and Bangsaphannoi stations and other areas regarded as tourist attractions, must have police boxes with officers standing guard to ensure the security of the lives and properties of people.
"We must concentrate on risky areas especially in Hua Hin and Pranburi where numbers of tourists are high at the beginning of the year up until Songkran Festival in April. There will also be "Emergency Service Centers" opened in Khao Takiab village, Amphoe Muang beach and Bangsaphan beach. These three points will be stationed by police officers who can speak foreign languages and are prepared for emergency assistance. Besides this, there are investigating officers ready to assist as well" said Pol.Col. Woraphat.
Pol.Col. Woraphat also added he would increase the number of tourist police, car patrol police, motorcycle patrol police and marine patrol police on crowded beaches. All of these are referred to as "Mobile Police Stations" which will be on standby everyday and will make a daily report of cases directly to Pol.Col. Woraphat. It is believed that if the police officers perform their duties according to the planned policy, the tackling and reduction of gangsters will be more effective.
Pol.Col. Woraphat also added in 2007, the annual report indicates that there were not any serious crimes towards Thais and foreigners. However, The Royal Thai Police has kindly given its support via manpower and useful equipment which will enable the police officers to work more effectively.
If there is any assistance required by entrepreneurs of hotels, guesthouses or tourist attractions in each district, help can be acquired from the nearest police officers immediately. Superintendent, Deputy Commander and Inspectors are willing to offer their assistance so everyone can trust the security provided by police officers throughout 2008.
