Hua Hin Post Office held an historical exhibition devoted to the King

Mr. Banjerd Thongbangbai, a Hua Hin Post Master, Prachuap Khirikhan Province, revealed that from Dec. 5th until the end of Dec. 2007, the Region 7 Post Office (7 provinces including Hua Hin) together held an "International Letter Writing Week" in the 7 provinces and in Hua Hin at Golden Place Shop, Hua Hin Market Village Shopping Center, Queens Park (Suan Luang Rachinee), Hua Hin Vitthayalai School. The exhibition was concerned with the post system in the past, mailing & parceling, stamps, mail boxes as well as stamps with images of HM. the king Bhumibol in various styles, displayed on boards for Thai and oversea visitors.

Besides devotion to HM. the King, the exhibition was a reminder of the "International Post Union" which was founded in October, 14th 1874, firstly in Switzerland. After the first post system was born, it became widespread in Europe, America, and Asia including Thailand as well. From that time, people around the world were able to communicate and send items to each other via post offices in each area.

Mr. Banjerd added that during the Christmas and New Year Festivals, post officers had to work harder than ever on delivering letters, New Year cards and parcels to domestic and international destinations. Moreover, Hua Hin post office were responsible for delivering politicians introduction cards and campaign books to people as well as small books introducing companies or shops and bill letters.

"At the moment, post officers no matter whether they are in charge of administration, or parceling have to work hard during this time because of the realization that all sent and received items must be delivered quickly and must reach their destination with care and in time for the festival."

"Each day, there will be approx. 3 cars exclusively for documents and letters. Moreover, the post office also deals with logistics, sending large items such as motorcycles and so on. These sent items will usually be delivered to beloved relatives in northern, northeastern, central and southern regions. As long as we are the center of post service, we must absolutely deliver all sent items to destinations even though our duties are quite tiring. We will try our best to serve our customers for the King Bhumibol " said Mr. Banjerd.
