Tab Sakae District to reveal its history to tourists

Mr. Prachuap Saengsuwan- Tab Sakae District Chief Officer of Prachuap Khirikhan province, revealed that the district was not well-known amongst general public. This district is very wealthy and rich, and one of the main sources of its wealth is coconut plantations that can be seen along Phetkasem road and the beaches.

Each year plantations are harvested by farmers and coconuts are sent to factories for production of canned coconut milk and other coconut products. The shells and peels can also be used for OTOP souvenirs that are distributed in various places.

There are also plenty of other tourist attractions, just to name few: beautiful beaches with coconut trees that can give a feeling of staying in Hawaii or some islands in the Philippines or Indonesia, numerous ancient temples with graceful sites that won�t leave foreign travelers untouched and of course the way of life of local people, farmers and fishermen, can be very appealing to western visitors. There is also an annual festival that holds various entertainment activities which enables Tab Sakae District to be the newest attraction of the province.

Tab Sakae District is located in the south of Prachuap Khirikhan - a province with 6 sub-districts- Huai Yang, Had Thong, Tab Sakae, Na Hu Kwang, Khao Lan and Saeng Aroon. All these sub-districts used to be ancient cities in the past hundred years famous for perfume, coconut milk and coconut products around the world.

Tab Sakae has its own prehistoric legend that tells us the following: "Once upon a time there was an old man called "Ta Pa Kao" or "Ta Kae" which means an old man in local language. Ta Kae built his own hut under a coconut tree which was the first hut in this area. Time passed by and then two other men from the north and south built their own huts beside Ta Kae and then more and more men came until it formed into a village called "Tab Ta Kae" , years later the name of the village was passed from generation to generation and was changed to "Tab Sakae" as it is today.

Mr. Prachuap also added that to welcome the new era of villages, sub-districts and district of Tab Sakae in particular, he personally, the members of Sub-district Administration Organization (SAO) and the local people will make a step ahead to improve tourist attractions and historical sites to contribute to satisfaction of foreign and Thai visitors.
