A little bit of country
The Saxophone Pub and Restaurant is situated on Kanklong Road beside the canal. It's a down home country style place where a little bit of Texas seems to have remade itself in Thailand. We were there just in time to see the local folkie Khun Wat's gig. But its not just country music. The food of course is pure Thai and it's served to a standard that we don't often see in Hua Hin outside of the more up-market places that cater to people with fat wallets and big appetites. The curry is excellent and the seafood fresh but what we really liked about the place was the gracious hospitality of our hostess, Khun Sathita Webb aka Khun Ta, and her staff.
And as a late night venue the place really excels. There aren't many choices in Hua Hin after midnight, and none possess a mellow live band like Ostinato playing old 60's and 70s covers. Fronted by beautiful local siren Khun Meow the music kept us entertained until 2 am closing time. The only problem that we could see was after a few glasses of wine and some excellent cocktails we had temporarily lost our ability to get home unaided. We'll be back though!
