First Miss Violet Charity a huge success
Khun Thavorn Detphet, director of Miss Violet Charity contest of Hua Hin, told Hua Hin Today that the Miss Viloet Charity 2006 Beauty Contest held at Pone Kingphet garden was very successful. Hua Hin Today's press announcement of the event informed many visitors from other countries and also some Thai visitors and residents. Many people contacted him saying that they wanted to donate by buying tickets to witness the event. The contest night was attended by more than 1,000 people. There were 15 contestants all of whom were between 22-25 years old. Khun Siraphan Kamolpramote, Hua Hin Mayor, presided the opening and presented awards to the winners.
The net earning after expenses from this event was Baht 100,000 which the contest committee and municipality agreed to donate in equal proportions to HIV/AIDS victims at Wat Prabat Nampu in Lopburi and to disabled children who are deaf and mute in Special Children School in Petchburi. Many people might have thought that the committee only held this event for their own fun but Khun Thavorn would like to state that he and his friends feel it is important to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS amongst people in Hua Hin and this is the main reason he and his friends held this event.
Miss Violet Charity 2006 was announced on the night. The top three winners are Khun Rungchada Thepthantri, 23, who is crowned "Miss Violet Charity", Khun Napatsorn Mooksakul, the first runner up, and Khun Patariya Promlertamornchat, second runner up. The three winners will be required to perform activities which help developing communities and Hua Hin city for one year.

They have already received a positive response and co-operation from Miss Violet groups in Pattaya, Phuket, and Bangkok. In all cases they will send contestants to join next year's Miss Violet Charity Beauty Contest. "We plan to raise prizes and awards for next year's contest because we want to have more contestants next year," said Khun Thavorn.
