Grap a cheap direct flight to Scandinavia

So, this writer just paid 60,000 baht per ticket (2 tickets) for a return flight to Denmark, with a connection in Frankfurt, and now the Scandinavian airline SAS brings on promotions of tickets from 22,000 baht for a return trip.

The press release from SAS (modified)

Scandinavian Airlines will add three direct flights per week from Bangkok to the Swedish capital Stockholm for the winter period October 28 to March 27. A special roundtrip promotional fare of 22,000 baht* is being offered for the first eight flights (October 28-November 14). From November 14 to December 6 the fare will rise to 28,000 baht*.
The flights depart Bangkok Tuesday, Friday and Sunday at 1425 arriving in Stockholm at 2000 hrs.

"Flying with SAS to Stockholm offers great connectivity to all of Scandinavia and cities in northern Europe," says Mr Hakan Olsson, SAS's Bangkok-based Director and General Manager for Southeast Asia. "Stockholm is a beautiful city in the winter and Scandinavia offers an abundance of arts and culture, castles, Viking sites, modern galleries, great shopping and food festivals."
Before arriving in Stockholm onboard SAS, the Scandinavian cultural experience is apparent in convenient check-in online, comfortable seats, food and beverage options including complementary juices and snacks between meals, and activity packs for children.

Stockholm is a collection of fourteen islands. The "water city" as it has been nicknamed, is the capital of Sweden and the Nordic region's largest city. Here grand historic buildings and culture dating back to the 13th century intermingle with some of the best contemporary art and design in the world. Stockholm's extensive public transport system makes it easy to get around and discover hidden corners of one of the world's most beautiful cities.

Visitors should purchase the Stockholm Card which provides free entrance to 75 sightseeing spots, free use of city sightseeing buses, the underground, public bus and suburban trains. The Stockholm Card is sold in most tourist information centres and hotels.

For the winter schedule starting October 28, SAS will also fly five times a week between Bangkok and Copenhagen, departing 0025, arriving in the Danish capital at 0625.
* Fares exclude taxes and surcharges, are subject to availability, and are valid from Bangkok to Stockholm only. Combinations with other fares are possible. Find out more about the fares at www.flysas.com/th or call 02 645 8200.

Scandinavian Airlines is the Northern Europe's largest airline focusing on services, reliability, and simplicity. We fly six weekly flights from Bangkok to Copenhagen (five from October 28, 2008 to March 27, 2009). Our extensive network provides convenient connections to Scandinavian and European destinations from Copenhagen and Stockholm airports.

Onboard SAS' modern and spacious Airbus A340s, there are a number of specific features, for example, personal entertainment screens across all classes. SAS is also one of few airlines to offer a premium economy product, Economy Extra. In a separate cabin, Economy Extra passengers enjoy wider and more comfortable seats than in Economy, extended meal services, Business class check-in and priority boarding. SAS Business Sleeper offers the highest levels of comfort with lie-flat seats, the popular buffet bar with drinks, snacks and espresso machine, and a spacious restroom with feature windows.
SAS has introduced a new fare structure offering simplicity, flexibility and better value for money. New lower-priced Fixed tickets reward early bookings. Flexible tickets can be either changed or refunded at a cost. And Fully Flexible tickets offer passengers tickets with no restrictions. Best of all, we offer full combinability -- the possibility to mix the three service classes and the three fare types of your choice.
Background

SAS is a consortium of the national airlines of Denmark, Norway and Sweden. The SAS Group comprises a number of businesses. More than 40 million passengers flew with the SAS group airlines -- Scandinavian Airlines, airBaltic, Blue 1, Spanair and Wideroe during the year to July 2007.

Operations to Bangkok were commenced in 1949. In 1959, SAS co-founded Thai Airways International Ltd., with the Thai Government through Airways Co., Ltd. (TAC) holding 70% shares and SAS 30%. SAS supplied aircraft, management and training to the Thais in order to build THAI into an international reputable airline. SAS's 30% shareholding was released back to Thai Government in 1977, but the close co-operation has continued. Both SAS and THAI are founding members of Star Alliance, comprising 20 international world-class airlines.
