43rd Pétanque World Championship 2007

Taking several decades, Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra, Thai people's beloved Princess Mother, encouraged all Thais to play Pétanque. Today, Thailand has several talented Pétanque athletes who bring fame to Thailand known as home of the "World Champions" for several consecutive years.

Therefore, this event is regarded as a great honor for Thailand to be the host country of the 43rd Pétanque World Championship 2007 as well as to mark double auspicious occasions, namely, the celebrations of His Majesty the King's 80th Birthday Anniversary, and the International Federation of Pétanque's celebrations of the centenary of Pétanque game in the world.

Athletes from over 60 countries around the world and more than 10,000 accompanying persons will attend this Championship which The Pétanque Association of Thailand under the Patronage of H.R.H. the Princess Mother, cooperates with Mae Fa Luang Foundation in organizing special tour programme along His Majesty the King's initiatives entitled "Royal Initiative Project". Moreover, other tour packages have been provided to introduce wonderful natural sites in Thailand such as mountains, waterfalls, and seasides.

As for holding this event, the Association has obtained good cooperation from Pattaya, the host city of this Championship, who has prepared competition venue, launched public relations campaigns, and sought for cooperation from government and private sectors such as hotels, resorts, and various tourist attractions to welcome all visitors from various countries around the world.

In the 43rd Pétanque World Championship during 18th - 23rd September 2007, at Pattaya Indoor Athletics Stadium in Chonburi, Thai people should take this event as a good chance to complimentarily play host to foreign athletes from over 60 countries who will visit Thailand this September, create favorable image of Thailand to the international community, as well as revive foreigners' confidence in our country.
