Banyan Golf Club’s Press Conference attracted leaders of Hua Hin’s golf, hotel and leisure industry to hear how The Banyan Estate and Golf Club all began and is now turning into a reality
Despite the heavy rain, the press conference was a huge success with almost all their invitees attending. Mick Evans of Hua Hin Golf Society commended the Banyan Estate and Golf Club’s team for staging such a professionally organized media day. Hosted on the 18th fairway the Banyan Golf Club team prepared a beautifully decorated marquee, where the panel of guest speakers introduced their roles and participation in creating the Banyan Golf Club dream to be realized.
Mr. Han Hakvoort (Managing Director, Blue Lotus Hua Hin Thailand Co., Ltd) opened up the Press Conference with a very passionate story of how the Banyan Estate and Golf Club all began and was formed. His vision for the development was to select the best location for the Banyan Golf Club, Hua Hin and it is in such a spectacular location. Prior to realizing an impressive championship golf course the land was simply a pineapple field, but one of the most unique features of selecting the club’s location is the amazing vistas of the Burmese mountains and in particular the ocean view and the Island of SingToh on the 15th Tee box. At sunset there is no other place more beautiful than the Banyan Golf Club, Hua Hin. With such a vision for the location, the Golf Course needed to be designed and built in which Han proudly announced his choice of Golf Course architect next to continue the Banyan Golf Club’s story.
Mr. Pirapon Namatra (Managing Director Golf East) explained the philosophy of how he designed the Banyan golf course. He made particular reference in his strategy of protecting the environment and throughout the Golf Course’s construction he preserved all the trees and natural contour of the land. He gave a few hints or tips on how to play each hole and encourages all to come and discover his golf course which will be one of the finest in Thailand.
Mr. Stacey Walton (General Manager, Banyan Golf Club, Hua Hin) will lead the Golf Club team with his partners of GLS Asia Limited www.gls-asia.com to ensure that when the golf club is opened from 1st August 2008 onwards golfers of all levels and visitors to the iconic clubhouse receive a 5-star guest service experience. He strongly feels that the ‘Banyan Golf Experience’ package rate of Bht.3250net, which will include a complimentary golf car and caddie fee is something different for Hua Hin, the package rate offers exceptional value for money and is hassle-free for the customer to be a one stop shop to getting on the golf course.
Mr. Huw Butler (Managing Director, Athena Siam Limited) is building the Clubhouse in association with Smith Obayawat of OBA as the architect. Huw has a fine reputation in the construction industry for using high quality materials and has a particular eye for details and finishing’s. He is a pro active leader on site and has the skills of overcoming some of the challenges and obstacles of building Banyan Golf Club’s very unique, traditional Thai but contemporary, state of the art clubhouse.

At the end of the press conference, all of the participants and invited guests were provided with light snacks and beverages. Banyan Golf Club, Hua Hin organized a fleet of “Banyan Tuk Tuk’s” to transport everybody to the 15th Tee where a small “nearest to the pin competition” was played. The Golf Course was looking fantastic and it will not be long before we can all have a game!
