Golf - Hua Hin’s Pride – Prayad Maksaeng
The winner of the Volvo Master’s Golf Tournament in 2007, Mr. Prayad Maksaeng a native from Hua Hin who was ranked as Thailand’s 1st golfer, has recently won the Japanese “Mitsubishi Diamond Cup Golf 2007” award. Playing golf since the age of fourteen, he has played in many major tournaments in the past years. To mention a few, Australia, Japan, USA and others in Europe. He is ranked No. 72 in the world.
Mr. Prayad, said “At 14 year old, I started playing golf at the Royal Hua Hin Golf Course where received kind support from Khun Santi Pirompakdee, The Director of Boonrod Brewery Co., Ltd.
Recently, I have been invited to play in the British Open in Scotland” which is considered to be the top of all golf tournaments. Top golfers from all over the world will be playing and considerable cash prizes can be won. The next British Open Scotland will take place in the USA.”
In my past tournaments, I have played with Tiger Woods, the American-Thai and world no. 1 golfer. He plays excellent. His style and precision is unequalled. Short or long shots or putting on a green, he is just perfect. Besides, Tiger Woods is a unique talent which are vital keys to his triumphs” explained Pro Mai.
Besides his regular job, he also teams up with Hua Hin Municipality, Mr. Suvit Rienrungreung, Mr. Athikhun Butying, deputy mayors, Boonrod Brewery Co.,Ltd, and the Royal Hua Hin Golf Course in organizing the “Singha Prayad Rising Star” for Hua Hin’s youth golfers. Girls and boys, a total of 25 players aged from 10-18. The selected players will be chosen according to their talents and will be trained in all techniques of Golf and will play in future tournaments in Thailand.
“I believe that if we can help to support and train this young generation. Well talented players can reach the bigger tournaments like Sukri Orn-cham or Sutep Mesawad ”.
