Readers' Corner:

A. Well there are many reasons why one gets bad breath´. The most common is from something you have eaten, cigarette smoking or bad oral hygiene.

Make sure you brush your teeth regularly in the correct way, not forgetting your tongue! Yes, your tongue has millions of bacteria living on it and the only way to get rid of it is to brush it with your toothbrush or a special tongue brush. Using a sugar free mouthwash, such a Listerine and flossing will help to keep the bacteria to a minimum. It is not necessary to brush after each meal, but you should floss as food hides between the teeth and harbors bacteria, thus causing smelly breath. Not eating food for long periods of time can cause a chemical imbalance in the stomach which omits a foul odor up to the mouth. So make sure you eat regularly...
Chewing fresh mint leaves after eating will keep your breath smelling fresh and eliminate any gaseous odors from the stomach. Also regular check ups and cleaning at the dentist will keep your teeth and mouth healthy

Q. What can as use as a natural´ mosquito repellent? I have sensitive skin and don´t like smell of the popular selling brands.?
[PIC=1294:right]
A. Lemongrass and Citronella is a very effective and pleasant smelling insect repellent. Spray on your arms legs and any exposed areas before going outside. Also keeps a citronella /lemongrass candle burning on the floor around you. The smell and smoke will keep the mossies away. If you do get bitten a small drop of lavender or T tree aromatherapy oil on the area will take away the inflammation and itchiness. If all else fails eat lots of garlic and rub some raw cloves over your arms and legs. You won´t have any friends but you will keep away the mosquitoes!

Q.Why do I always feel so tired around 4pm? I have a balanced diet, but do drink tea and coffee and sometimes skip lunch.?
A. The afternoon slump´ can be a result of many things. But if you follow these simple guidelines you may find your energy levels more balanced.

1. Drink more water, a minimum of 8 glasses a day to keep all your bodily functions working efficiently.
2. Try and avoid too much tea and coffee during the day as they are stimulants and will only drain your energy
in the long term as well as dehydrating you.
3. If you have an office job try and move around every 20 minutes, this will stimulate your organs and lungs and keeps the oxygen level balanced, thus providing you with sufficient energy.
4. If you work indoors keep the room well ventilated, not too much a/c and not too warm.
5. Rather than reaching for a coffee and starchy snack when you feel tired, pack some high fiber snack bars, nuts or some cheese. A natural, sugar free fruit drink will be healthier for you than these high sugar foods, which only drain your energy after your high´.
6. Finally, BREATH, most of us don´t breath properly, usually only using the upper part of our lungs and taking small shallow breaths. Take 3 deep breaths from the abdomen through the nose and breath out slowly through your mouth, you will be surprised at how energized you will feel.
