The Banyan Golf Club reveals it’s Luxurious Interior Design
The Banyan Clubhouse is well under way and is scheduled to open later this year. We had the privilege of being shown the projects design by General Manager, Stacey Walton who proudly claims:
‘The Clubhouse will be an icon for Hua Hin’s golfing industry and the amount of investment has been incredible to ensure the best quality materials are being used. The interior will be magnificent which provides, warmth, sophistication, quality and luxury. We are looking forward to opening this wonderful facility, especially our superior Club suites offering well-appointed accommodation and the restaurant which will be one of Hua Hin’s most glamorous dining spots’
The Banyan Clubhouse is designed by “Smith Obayawat”, as well renowned and respected Thai architect and his Company OBA( The Office of Bangkok Architects). The Banyan Clubhouse follows on from other successful and similar projects such as the Amat6a Spring Country Club, Ayudhaya Link and the Siam Club in Pattaya. Smith and OBA have also worked on other successful projects including but not limited to:
Veranda Hotel (Chiangmai), Veranda Hotel (Cha Am), Major Cineplex (various projects), Esplanade Shopping Center, Rachadalai Theatre
The design and inspiration for the Banyan is derived from the modern day function and needs of a present day golf club, whereby the architectural and interior works relates directly to the functionality of place. The new clubhouse is unique in a way that it differentiates from other clubhouses that Smith has designed; in sense that this is a new exploration of design whereby it is simple, modern and function informs the design process.

It is a composition of modern design overriding the traditional Thai architecture and the base/foundation of the building is simplified to express the materiality of the structure. It is then overlaid with the concept of traditional Thai hospitality the elegance without the need for highly elaborate design, importantly, Smith exposes the real materials which help to add integrity to the overall design. The Banyan Golf is a classic example of Thai-modern architecture which expresses the voice of traditional Thai in a modern environment.
