The Other Thai Restaurant at Six Senses Hideaway & Evason Hua Hin
The Evason Hua Hin & Six Senses Spa’s newly re-opened outlet is The Other Thai Restaurant, which is set among the resort’s beautiful charming surroundings by a lush tropical garden and a lotus pond.
Turned from Asian Fusion to an authentic Thai restaurant, it offers a contemporary setting, both indoor and outdoor, with fresh coastal sea breezes. Unlike some other Thai outlets, The Other Thai Restaurant made me feel welcomed the very instant I stepped through the entrance. I then realized that the relaxing moment had only just arrived.
Dining under the moonlight is a truly romantic experience for everyone and The Other Thai Restaurant is only opened in the evening.
One of the secrets of Thai cooking is using the right ingredients and the right combination of herbs and spices. Khun Tookta, Director of Sales of Six Senses Hideaway & Evason Hua Hin, who friendly welcomed me, said that the resort has its own organic garden of herbs and vegetables that are incorporated into The Other Thai Restaurant.
Thai food is always my favorite and I prefer authentic Thai food.
Most Thais speak of five important tastes as the hallmark of Thai food; sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and hot-spicy. At The Other Thai Restaurant, the meal is often designed to include these tastes and sometime several of the tastes are combined in an individual dish.
Featuring food from Thailand’s four geographical regions, I would say that all the dishes I tried were fantastic.
Like any good restaurant, the restaurant staffs were on hand to provide comprehensive descriptions of each dish and recommended a suitable option just for my particular mood. The menu is simple, but somehow the food was mouth watering and, of course, really appetizing. By recommendation of Khun Tookta, I had the Yam Som O, Pomelo salad. To prepare Yam Som O, it takes a lot of time and it is not that easy as there are many ingredients to go with it. I really loved its flavors and perfect ingredients and, the most important thing in Yam Som O, is using a perfect ripe pomelo. I highly recommend this one.
For the health lovers, The Other Thai Restaurant serves brown rice, containing lots of vitamins and high in nutrition, but white rice is also available. In Thai dining, people normally have a variety of dishes; soup, stir- fried, curry and deep fried. All dishes are usually shared. I had Geang Phed Ped Yang, Roasted Duck in Red Curry, and it went very well my brown rice.
The next dish was Pla Muek Yad Sai Phad Prik, Local Fresh Squid stuffed with Thai Minced Pork stir-fried bell peppers, onion, and mushroom. The squid and the vegetables were fresh and everything was perfectly cooked.
As a dessert, Khao Niew Ma Muang, Thai Mango with Sticky Rice and Warm Coconut Milk and Sang Kaya Ma Prao Orn, Thai Custard served in a Young Coconut always tempt me.
A Thai Classical Dance is performed every Wednesday and Saturday from 19.30 - 20.30 hrs.
I left The Other Restaurant practically rolling out the door, thanking Khun Tookta for her wonderful hospitality. I will definitely come back here again.
