Government prepares budget for Hua Hin
Mr Siraphan Kamolpramote, Hua Hin's mayor, reported that Hua Hin at the moment has grown very rapidly. Unfortunately local residents don't know how to handle the growth which creates many social problems especially water supply, heavy traffic, lack of parking space, low standard sports fields, no support in sports activities, etc. Statistically, there are 2 million visitors to Hua Hin each year which provides total earnings for Hua Hin of B8 billion.
In this occasion, Hua Hin municipality would like to receive help from the government in order to improve water supply system - either delivery system or water purification system. The budget requested is B289 million. They are also asking for B194 million for a new road construction which is planned to be along the railroad from Mooban Bohfai which ends at Mooban Huadon. B204 million is requested for providing public parking space and B123 million to build a qualified sports field. Mr Siraphan said that if Hua Hin is granted these budgets, the quality of the lives of Hua Hin residents and overall social activities will be much improved.
Mr Nukul Ponsomboonsiri, Cha-Am's mayor, stated that Cha-Am has initiated many projects which are "Underworld" sea-water creatures project and a project which will construct a huge conference centre where 5,000 people can meet comfortably. For both projects Cha-Am will need B500 million. The same budget will also be utilized to improve beach road as well. If Cha-Am is granted this budget, it will provide perfect tourism operation between Cha-Am and Hua Hin.
Mr Suwat, after receiving the report from both mayors, said that he and the government agreed to make Samut Songkram, Petchburi and Prachuab Khirikhan the "Riviera" of Thailand. It is planned to construct a long beach road which connects beaches of these three provinces. This road will be fast and safe for visitors. The government is aiming to promote this region to be the next famous tourist place and they will attract visitors from the Andaman Sea to spend their holiday in the Gulf instead.
Moreover, the deputy prime minister commented that Prachuab Khirikhan is full of natural places on land, sea, and mountains. Ao Noi, Ao Manao, and Ao Prachuab are historicallly interesting places. When they are combined with the beauty of Hua Hin beach, Hua Hin's famous railway station, Chatchai night market, Sofitel Hotel (historical railway station hotel), together with local handicrafts and products, the promotion of these places will help strengthen tourism industry in this province.
"Hua Hin is an old town which reflects "Nice" of France. The government plans to keep Hua Hin as clean as it has always been. It will be promoted as a natural c ity, without a-go-go bars or nude shows. Loud noise group tours are now allowed either. The beach should be kept clean and flood should rarely happen otherwise visitors will be driven away," said Mr Suwat.
Mr Suwat added that he will urgently report to the ministry for the budgets that both districts request in order to help both municipalities finish the projects and solve those problems.
