“Khai” prepared for his 2nd local election in Hua Hin

Chamnan Puengioh

Mr. Preecha, or nickname as Khai, Ngarmleua, MPC, zone 1, Hua Hin District,  revealed that he had decided to compete for the MPC election for the second time.  He has been the Chief Executive of the SAO since 4th May 2006, successor of Mr. Suchon  Inthasem, who resigned as the Secretariat of the Senate.

At that time, the number of eligible voters totaled 1,200, but just 30% of them participated in the voting and he only got 2,000 votes.  After being appointed, he began work immediately by urging the project of road construction in Samor Prong, Bo Fai and other places totaling 7 routes with a budget of 8 million baht.

Moreover, he pushed for a budget on providing iron cutters for helping injured people in accidents rescued by the Hua Hin Welfare Foundation, totaling 900,000 baht as well.  Besides that, he also took care of his people by supporting local traditions and festivals with his own budget.

He said that these were duties that had to be performed by local politicians on behalf of representatives relied upon by local people.  He was also willing to spend his own budget on sports and local traditions in Bofai Village, totaling 20,000 baht each year, or maybe 70,000 baht for some years and he sometimes went out looking after 2-3 people each day as well.

Working with executives in the Council was successful because he could present appropriate activities and strategies to satisfy the desires of people in the area, so that working for the people was easier than it has ever been.  Currently, the present MPC from all zones expired on 13th March 2008, and there is likely to be an MPC election on 4th May 2008.

“I have already assigned the action plan for taking care of the people in zone 1, especially via communication, infrastructures, tourism and so on.  All of these developments will raise sufficient income for the locals.  I will assist temples in the area by constructing more crematoriums which are needed by temples and people in the area” he said.

He is now trying to obtain votes by knocking on the door of each house in each community as well as by listening to villagers’ problems and what they need and want.  Following this all of the points will be put in his action plan to be presented to the Chief Executive of the SAO and administration to decide and assign a budget.

Asking about buying vote, he insisted that he will never do it because it is illegal and he wouldn’t feel very proud of himself.  He will present future plans and useful policies which are tangible to the people as a selling point in the local politics under the headings “existing successful works” and “said & done”. This is to indicate that using money in the wrong way is unnecessary!

The MPC election, zone 1, Hua Hin District will have 3-4 politicians participating including him. He will try to obtain votes by showing his successful works and wide vision. He also confirmed that political duty is not for honor, but to make things work.  A lot of political participants will colorfully enhance Thai politics due to providing more choices for the people.  Now he is a 51 year-old politician who has been participating in political activities with pride and he will move forward and continue on the political road as long as his people still put their trust in him.
