Supansa Klaiwaad
On 26th March 2008, 10.00 am at Hua Hin Municipal Office, Mr. Siraphan Kamolpramote together with his team consisting of Mr. Nopporn Wutthikul, Mr. Somboon Chatkitcharoen, Mr. Witool Lor-Sirilak, Vice Mayors, and Pol.Sen.Sgt.Maj. Mr. Siraphan said he and his team had submitted a letter of resignation to Prachuap Khirikhan Election Commission (EC), which was effective on March 31, 2008. Now, he and his members from 3 zones must prepare themselves for an incoming election. His executive team remains the same, but some of district council members might be changed depending on the conditions of each zone.
A chosen Mayor must work with government officers under various divisions; Education, Finance, Public Works and Medical Services, in the hope of improving those officers. When everyone understands each other, it will enable a chosen team to proceed with a policy for Hua Hin, the dream city. The City Development Strategy, vision & mission as well as other governmental structures are regarded as the heart of politics and government, especially voting for Community Chairman and having a Community Council.
Water is the main infrastructure which has to be sufficiently maintained for people in the municipality. In the past, the municipality had many problems with water service, owing to raw water, insufficient water, and loss of profit, services and other problems. In the first year the team worked together to solve these problems immediately. The water system was improved, but with fast development, some problems might persist because a lot of people moving to the area, so the new water system must be revised.
There are also other issues such as city planning, educational systems in municipal schools, traditional promotion, encouraging those sub-communities to take part in administration and local taxation as well.
Mr. Siraphan also added that from the past until now, administrative and law sections have worked together to ensure the happiness of the people in a form of a “friendly council”, so that all works and projects were successfully completed in accordance with the democratic system of local government.
The remaining incomplete works such as the elevated road from Phetchkasem to Khong Prachan, Liab Thang Rodfai Road to Suan Son, city car parking, traffic jams, cultural activities, source of raw water and other pending projects must be carried on as planned.
“Actually, I and my team will officially finish in July, but for the suitability of the Hua Hin New Power Group, I decided to resign for an upcoming election which will take place on 11th May, which is the same day as the district council member’s election (either before or after as assigned by EC). In case of other political competitors, I insist that we are ready to tackle any political situations. It is delightful that people in Hua Hin will have more choices for the upcoming election.”
