Pakistan: 6 militants targeting Americans arrested
LAHORE, Pakistan (AP) — Police say six suspected Taliban militants with a suicide vest and hand grenades have been arrested while heading to a five-star hotel in Pakistan's cultural capital intending to kill Americans.
Police official Zulfikar Hameed says authorities seized the six, one wearing a vest filled with explosives, on the outskirts of the eastern city of Lahore on Monday.
Hameed says police also seized 26 hand grenades and five detonators. The group included a 14-year-old boy and a prayer leader from a mosque in Pakistan's Khyber tribal area.
Hameed says the militants planned to attack the Pearl Continental Lahore hotel but did not know for certain if any Americans are staying there.
